Herzlich willkommen zu Bryn Mawr German!

Bryn Mawr 德语和德语研究 is a Bi-College Department with Haverford German. The Bi-Co Department of 德语和德语研究 offers an interdisciplinary German studies program that explores the role and global reach of German language, 文学, and culture to understand urgent and essential questions of the past and the present. 我们探索不同的声音, 视角, disciplines and narratives that have emerged from and shape German-speaking regions and their role in the world today.

A thorough knowledge of the German language built at all levels of the program equips students with communicative skills necessary for working in academic and professional settings in German-speaking countries. Students also develop critical thinking and writing skills as well as intercultural competencies to respond creatively to challenges and opportunities posed by cultural differences in an increasingly global world.

Course offerings serve students with interests in German 文学, 文学理论与批评, and those interested in studying German and German-speaking cultures from other fields and 视角, 包括沟通, 电影, 历史, 思想史, 艺术史 and architecture, 性别研究, 宗教史, 语言学, 媒体研究, 哲学, 政治, and urban anthropology and folklore. Students interested in other 社会 sciences STEM fields profit from growing their language and intercultural communicative skills to access academic and professional opportunities and resources in German-speaking countries.

German majors are encouraged to take courses in any interdisciplinary area. 课程 tagged with German in other departments can count toward the major or the minor. Our faculty have expertise in and offer courses with special focuses on Asian-German studies, 电影, 哲学, 历史, 国际关系, 政治科学, 性别研究, 残疾研究, 后殖民理论, 医学人文, 艺术史, 视觉研究, 媒体理论, 科学史, 和犹太研究.
